My name is Gary Hinrich and I've been an avid woodworker for many years. I have sold my art in many stores and art galleries and donate many pieces to charity fund raisers. While I like many forms of woodworking, I love woodturning and sculpture the most. I usually make a couple of dozen items per year and use whatever wood comes my way. Most of my wood comes in log form. Meaning I get the tree as it's coming down. Each piece is unique as I use a lot of wood most would avoid. I love the color and interesting designs that appear in burls, knots, crotch wood and exotics. I try to incorporate these in what I'm making to bring out the best colors and patterns. I generally use Lacquer, Shellac or Tung Oil on our pieces which are safe around kids and pets. While most of my pieces are intended as art, many can be used for dry foods and fruit (no liquids).
